This article is a little outside the main scope of this blog, but minority hiring and talent development in the ad and marketing industries is something I see as hugely important in improving the quality of advertising to Hispanics and others in the coming years.
Research from Terra indicates that Hispanics are more likely than their non-Hispanic counterparts to have plans to make new tech purchases in the next year. They are also more receptive than other groups to digital marketing messaging.
The holidays are coming up and for many Hispanic consumers, that means special dishes prepared with a variety of specialty meat products. Items like tongue, pig tails, tripas (guts) and others are purchased in larger-than-normal amounts this time of year.

I have really enjoyed the chance to take a look at Hispanic marketing and how advertisers are addressing this growing and changing population. Coincidentally to this assignment winding down, I had the opportunity to work on my own creative strategy for advertising a product to Hispanics.
LatinWorks came into our Account Planning class and gave us an in-class exercise of developing a strategy for marketing Post Pebbles cereal to a Hispanic target. Working with a team of three other students, I was able to contribute many of the insights I have learned from writing this blog. In particular, I used my knowledge of the Hispanic millennial consumer to suggest a target that was not immediately obvious. Click here for a summary of the project and our creative brief.
It has been a privelege to examine Hispanic culture via advertising this semester. I hope to continue to do so in this blog and other efforts.
